CFIT Run Club Take on the Rathlin Run 2025
Share
For the past three years, CFIT Run Club has made the annual trip to Rathlin Island for the much-loved Rathlin Run. From the very beginning, our run club was never about competition—it’s always been about connection, community, and carving out time for ourselves in the middle of busy lives. But every summer, as routines slip and schedules get hectic, I knew we needed something to keep the momentum going. That’s when the idea of the Rathlin Run 5K entered the group chat.

This event is organised seamlessly every year and has quickly become a highlight in the CFIT calendar. Yesterday, several of our runners laced up and made their way to the island, ready to take on the 5K route. True to CFIT style, we weren’t there for podiums or personal bests—we were there for the craic, the challenge, and of course, a well-earned glass (or three) of prosecco afterwards.
The team did tremendously well. While I’m still not fit to run, I was able to join in for a warm-up session on the beach before cheering the girls to the start line. The Rathlin Run route is no easy jog—think steep hills and strong winds.

Once again, the Rathlin Run proved why it’s so much more than a race—it’s a tradition, a celebration of movement, and a reminder that running is about more than times and distances. For CFIT, it’s about showing up, together.
Thank you to the organisers of the event - you don't get enough recognition for all your hard work. We really appreciate it.
