Pelvic Floor Health: Why Every Woman Who Trains Needs to Understand This

I've been coaching women in strength and nutrition for over a decade, and one of the most consistent gaps I see — regardless of training age, fitness level, or background — is pelvic floor health.

Not because women don't care. But because nobody ever properly taught them.

That's something I want to change inside CFIT.

The Problem With How We Talk About the Pelvic Floor

For most women, pelvic floor education starts and ends with: "Just do your Kegels."

And for those who do experience symptoms: leaking when they run, pressure during lifting, discomfort they can't quite explain, the message is often: "That's just part of being a woman. Part of having kids. Normal."

It's not good enough.

The pelvic floor is the foundation of core stability, intra-abdominal pressure management, and full-body function. If it's not working well, it doesn't just stay quiet. It shows up in your lifts, your running, your posture, and your daily life, often in ways that women have been conditioned to accept or ignore.

This is a performance issue. A health issue. And a conversation that belongs front and centre in any serious training environment.

Why I'm Bringing Dr. Jillian Yost Into CFIT

I met Jill at the Irish Yank Strength Summit, and within minutes of talking I knew she was exactly the kind of clinician I want in this community.

She bridges the gap between rehab and real-world training in a way that's rare. She's not just clinical — she's practical. She understands how women train, what they're working towards, and how to give them education they can actually apply. No fear-mongering, no overcomplication — just clear, evidence-based knowledge delivered in a way that makes sense.

That's the standard I hold for everything inside CFIT. And Jill meets it.

On 13th May at 8PM (UK time), we're hosting a live Pelvic Floor Workshop with Dr. Jillian Yost via Zoom.

Here's what we'll be covering:

  • Pelvic floor anatomy — properly explained
  • Breathing mechanics and pressure management under load
  • Incontinence and prolapse — what's normal, what's not, and what to do about it
  • Mobility and strength work for better function
  • How to integrate all of this into your training and daily life
  • Live Q&A

This Is For You If...

You leak when you run, jump, or lift. You feel pressure or heaviness and have just been getting on with it. You've had kids — recently or years ago. You're in perimenopause or menopause and noticing changes in how your body responds to training. Or you simply want to understand your body at a deeper level so you can train smarter for the long term.

You don't need to be symptomatic to benefit from this. Every woman who trains should have this knowledge.

This Is the CFIT Standard

I built this community around one principle: training for life. Not just for now, not just for aesthetics, but for longevity, function, and genuine strength that holds up over time.

Pelvic floor health is part of that. It always has been. We're just finally giving it the space it deserves.
