1,200 Calories Doesn't Work and Here's Why

For years, one anonymous CFIT client believed eating as little as possible was the answer to weight loss.

Every Monday, she would start again on 1,200 calories, determined that this week would be different. By the middle of the week, hunger and restriction would take over. She would binge, feel defeated and promise herself she would restart the following Monday.

It was an exhausting cycle—and it wasn’t working.

“I needed to learn how to eat properly again”

After more than 20 years of dieting and undereating, she had reached the point where she’d had enough.

“I saw Catherine speaking on Instagram about constantly starting again every Monday, and it spoke directly to me. I felt like I needed to learn how to eat properly again because I was so far off.”

When she joined the 12-week CFIT Nutrition Plan, the goal wasn’t to force her calories even lower. It was to help her eat enough, fuel her body properly and create habits she could maintain beyond another Monday morning.

The thought of eating more was frightening

Increasing her food initially felt uncomfortable.

Like many women who have spent years surrounded by restrictive diet advice, she had been conditioned to believe that eating less must lead to better results.

“The thought of eating more calories scared me. Then I couldn’t believe how great I felt—and seeing the weight slowly but steadily dropping was amazing.”

Eating more didn’t magically cause weight loss. It helped her break the restrict-and-binge cycle that had been preventing consistency. With enough food, a realistic structure and ongoing support, she was able to maintain an appropriate calorie deficit without feeling as though she was starving.

More food. More energy. Consistent results.

Over the 12 weeks, she experienced:

  • Steady, sustainable weight loss
  • Freedom from the Monday restart cycle
  • Fewer urges to binge and overeat
  • More energy throughout the day
  • Better-fuelled workouts
  • Greater confidence around food
  • A sense of control without extreme restriction

“I’m still surprised by how great I feel eating more and continuing to lose weight. I’m not starving like I used to be, I have much more energy throughout the day and I have more energy for my workouts.”

That is what sustainable nutrition should feel like.

Coaching that goes beyond calories

Changing a long-standing relationship with food takes more than receiving a calorie target or a generic meal plan. It requires education, accountability and support especially during the moments when old habits begin to creep back in.

“I was honestly so surprised by how involved and accessible Catherine was. I’ve worked with online coaches before where you don’t even get the coach, you get one of their assistants.

“Catherine made me feel important and supported throughout the entire process. At one point, I was down on myself and wanted to say, ‘Fuck it.’ She reminded me that CFIT doesn’t quit and neither should I. That got me through the moment.”

From defeated to confident and in control

Before joining CFIT, she felt defeated by her eating habits and her body. Twelve weeks later, she describes herself as feeling “confident and in complete control” of her nutrition and body.

Her greatest transformation wasn’t simply the weight she lost. It was learning that progress didn’t require starvation, punishment or starting over every Monday. When asked what she would tell a friend considering CFIT Nutrition, she said:

“It’s a no-brainer. If they want a better relationship with food and want to learn how to eat properly, CFIT is the way to go. The plan is freeing—especially for us older millennials who have been undereating for more than 20 years.”

You may not need to eat less. You may need a better strategy.

If you’re surviving on low calories from Monday to Wednesday, overeating later in the week and blaming yourself for having no willpower, you are not failing.

The approach is failing you.

The CFIT Nutrition Plan helps you step away from extreme restriction and learn how to fuel your body, lose fat sustainably and build a relationship with food that gives you freedom—not fear.
