Perimenopause, Fat Loss & Finally Finding a Plan That Works
Share
My client is 44, peri-menopausal, and like many, has tried every fad diet - Slimming World, Weight Watchers, you name it. What made the difference this time was a focus on education, not restriction building habits that work for her, not against her.
She didn’t say the plan was “hard”.
She didn’t say she felt restricted.
She didn’t say she was miserable.
She said it felt like an education. That’s the biggest win.
Learning how to eat — not how to diet
Over the last 12 weeks, she learned about food groups, fuelling her body properly and how exercise fits into the bigger picture.
Not in an overwhelming way. Not in a “you need to be perfect” way.
Just simple, practical understanding that actually made sense in real life. When people understand why they’re eating the way they are, everything changes.
Food stops being scary. Weekends stop feeling like a problem. Meals out don’t cause stress.
No deprivation. No “diet mode”.
One thing she mentioned straight away was her calorie allowance.
She said it felt great and that she rarely felt deprived or like she was “on a diet”. That’s not an accident.
If a plan leaves you hungry, miserable or counting down the days until it’s over, it’s not the right plan. Full stop.
This was straightforward. It was manageable. And because of that, she didn’t fall back into old habits, especially at weekends or when eating out.
Small changes. Consistent effort.
There was no extreme overhaul. A few simple changes with food. More walking; which she now genuinely looks forward to every day.
That was it.
And over the 12 weeks? She’s 8.8kg (1.4 stone) lighter, her clothes fit better, and she can see the difference in her progress photos. This is what sustainable fat loss actually looks like.

The support matters
When I asked her about the highlight of the plan, it wasn’t just the weight loss.
She mentioned:
- The group chat
- Learning new recipes
- Feeling more educated about food
- Seeing results and feeling supported
That’s the part people underestimate. No one needs more willpower — they need guidance, accountability and somewhere to ask questions without judgement.
Honest coaching (with no sugar coating)
She described working with CFIT as:
“Very approachable but also straight to the point — no sugar coating, which is needed.”
And I’ll take that every time. I’m here to support you — but I won’t lie to you. Real progress needs honesty, clarity and consistency.
Three words that say it all
When I asked her to describe the plan in three words, her answer summed it up better than I ever could: Straightforward. Manageable. Life-changing.
That’s always the aim. Not perfection. Not extremes. Just something you can actually stick to and carry forward long after the plan ends.
Stronger for life.
